Import a BOM

Prerequisites

  • If needed, create the BOM for the project first. See Create a BOM.

  1. Select Home > BOM in the Navigation Menu. The BOM tab window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu if needed. The default selection is the current active project in the main EVMax window. The left pane displays the list of BOMs defined for the project.
  3. Select the BOM you want to import data into in the left pane.
  4. Click Import in the Ribbon Menu. An Import BOM dialog box displays.
  5. Click on the File ellipsis button to navigate to the file you want to import.
  6. Select the file and click Open.
  7. Click on the Import dropdown and select either All Items or Only New Items depending on what you want to do.
  8. Click OK. The Import tab window displays. Notice the Import Row check box and Import Status columns for each rate row. The Import Status column is set to "Insert" for each row.

    Tips:

The BOM data does not change until you click Import, so you have an opportunity to scan the columns and rows for any potential errors or unexpected content. You can change the Import Row check box setting to exclude rows you don't want to import. Or, cancel the process and make corrections to the file before you import the data.

Notice the Back option in the Import tab window. Clicking Back displays a Mapping tab window. For each Required Column, map it to the applicable import File Column from the dropdown. Once you move to the Mapping tab, you must complete the mapping. Click Next to move back to the Import tab window.

  9. Click Import. An Import Complete dialog box displays.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Optional. Close the BOM tab.
